Mauritius – Last Mile Optimizations

Scope of project “Mauritius” is to develop methods to optimize the “last mile” within logistics processes, including the technical implementation as IT-system.

The implementation of the methods is generic to consider the major basic conditions of all logistics companies and their existing systems. The IT-system is GIS-minded to ensure maximum user acceptance. 

All companies have heterogeneous planning methods and tools – so Mauritius is ready to integrate itself into the current planning- and IT-landscapes. Focus of the optimization tasks is to minimize costs – not distances, not vehicles, etc. – this also implies a rise of effectiveness and efficiency of the affected process steps and therefore rises performance of the whole company.

Mauritius provides basic functions like
- single route optimization
- overall optimization of selected routes
- considering potential of public transport
- all common GIS-features
as well as simulation tasks to
- find the best locations of depots statewide
- learn about impacts of strategic plans including depot-tasks

The project is supported by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
